  1.1. Work performed in relation to the terms of reference
   
  1.1.1. KRF(Korea Research Foundation) Research Project
   
  The Institute has received a research fund from the Korea Research Foundation in October 2001 that supports a 6 year research project entitled ‘Fundamental and clinical studies applying east-west medicine to strengthen international competitiveness and to globalize Korean Oriental medicine.’ The grant consisted of $240,000 from the government and $120,000 from Kyung Hee University in 2006. Professor Jin-Il Kim, director of this institute, is leading this project as a principle investigator.

Purposes of project : This project aims to complete the ultimate goal set by the institution to promote the type of "research on East-West medical treatment to strengthen the international competitiveness of Korean Oriental medicine, first, by elaborating a feasible research model with which the Eastern and the Western medicine can work together, second, by globalizing the resources of Korean Oriental medicine, and by building up a network of information system through which the knowledge of Korean Oriental medicine can be purveyed all over the world.
